Nutritional Therapy

Wellsome Naturopath salmon, chocolate

As a nutritional therapist I specialise in using nutrition and dietary interventions to promote optimal health and address specific health concerns. I assess your nutritional needs, create personalised diet plans and provide guidance on making optimal food choices to support overall well-being and manage specific conditions.

What is Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional therapy focuses on using nutrition and dietary interventions to support and promote optimal health. It recognizes the profound impact that food and nutrients have on the functioning of the body and seeks to address health concerns by optimising your nutritional status.

As a Nutritional Therapist, I assess your diet, lifestyle and overall health to identify areas of imbalance or deficiency. I then create a personalised diet plan and provide guidance on making appropriate food choices to address specific health conditions or to improve overall well-being.

The practice of nutritional therapy is rooted in the belief that a well-balanced and nutrient-rich diet can support the body’s natural healing processes and help prevent the onset of chronic diseases. I consider factors such as digestion, absorption, food sensitivities and lifestyle when I develop a tailored plan for you.

I educate my clients about the importance of a healthy diet, help them understand the impact of different foods on their health and empower them to make sustainable dietary changes. I may also incorporate supplements or functional foods to address specific nutrient deficiencies or enhance therapeutic outcomes.

What conditions can a Nutritional Therapist address?

I help my clients with weight loss or weight gain goals by designing 100% personalised meal plans and guide them all the way until they have reached their goals!

Digestive disorders
I assist in managing conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), acid reflux, constipation and food intolerances by recommending specific dietary modifications and identifying trigger foods.

Cardiovascular health
I provide guidance on managing high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels and other risk factors for cardiovascular diseases through dietary changes.

Diabetes and blood sugar control
I develop personalised meal plans and provide education for individuals with diabetes, helping them manage blood sugar levels and optimise their food intake.

Food allergies and sensitivities
I help identify and manage allergies or sensitivities to specific foods, such as gluten, dairy, nuts, or shellfish, by developing elimination diets or suggesting alternative food options.

Hormonal imbalances
I address conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or menopause by recommending dietary changes that support hormone balance and overall health.

Mental health and mood disorders
I develop nutritional strategies that support mental well-being. I focus on optimising nutrient intake to support brain health and provide guidance on foods that can positively impact mood and cognition.

Autoimmune conditions
I help individuals with autoimmune conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, or Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, by recommending anti-inflammatory diets and identifying potential trigger foods.

I assist individuals in improving their overall dietary habits and making healthier food choices. They may provide education on nutrition labels, meal planning and cooking techniques.

Can you work with my doctor?

Absolutely! I do not aim to replace conventional medical treatment but rather complement it by focusing on the role of nutrition in supporting overall health and well-being. I work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care for my clients.
